День добрый всем.

Суть проблемы: ОС Fedora 8, машина введена в домен, видит все соседние компьютеры, прекрасно пингуется... но сама в сети не видна и расшаренные папки не подключаются даже как сетевые диски. в чем может быть проблема?

Здравствуйте, Volkodav!
Проверьте стартуют ли демоны samb'ы: smbd и nmbd (ps -A|grep mbd). Если нет - попробуйте запустить вручную (/etc/init.d/smb start). Если и вручную не запускаются - ищите в log'ах ошибки и исправляйте что надо.

Клиентская часть от этих демонов не зависит и может работать даже если они не стартовали.
Если есть другая машина с Linux'ом или Samba для Windows попробуйте с неё посмотреть что видно на Вашем Linux'e (smbclient -L {ip-адрес}). Если есть хоть что-то (шара IPC$) - копайте в smb.conf

Посмотрите заданы ли в smb.conf следующие параметры: server string (у меня = ged), workgroup (= WORKGROUP), netbios name( = GED), security (= share), interfaces (= eth0 eth1 lo). И, конечно, создайте шару, если вдруг этого не сделали. Например, в конце smb.conf допишите что-то вроде:

После изменения файла перезапустите службы smbd и nmbd. Для проверки работает ли эта конфигурация еще можно воспользоваться командой testparm.

PVS@Lviv, к сожалению эта машина - единственная с Линуксом. Самбы под Windows у меня не было, сейчас буду копать

Не помню в самбе ";" это комментарий или нет (я везде пользуюсь решеткой). Если так, то раскомментируйте следующую строку:

P.S. В следующий раз, пожалуйста, используйте тэг [сode][/сode], потому что не очень удобно было читать весь конфиг без него.
